Internship in Professional Psychology
Application Instructions (Updated July 2008)
(For the Training Year 2009-2010)

Dear Applicant,

Thank you very much for your interest in the Friends Hospital Internship Program in Professional Psychology.

Qualified applicants must have completed all formal course work in a clinical or counseling psychology doctoral program that includes evidence of supervised training and course work in:

A minimum of 650 total supervised practicum hours is required but most applicants interviewed and ranked have more. A rudimentary knowledge of healthcare financing, psychological services delivery, managed care and professional practice issues is desirable but not required.

Please note: All applicants must register with National Matching Services, Inc. (NMS) for the APPIC Internship Matching Program in order to be eligible to match to this internship. A copy of the NMS applicant registration form may be downloaded from their web site at www.natmatch.com/psychint . The internship program at Friends Hospital abides fully with all APPIC match policies. The current APPIC policy statement regarding the Matching Program may be viewed at the APPIC web site at www.appic.org

Applications must be submitted in their entirety, to be received no later than Friday, November 14, 2008 at 5pm Eastern Standard Time.

Applications are reviewed as received (if complete) and where indicated, personal interviews are scheduled for mid- to late December and January. Typically, about 30-40 applicants are interviewed for six positions from a pool of about 145-160 completed applications. Notifications of Matching Program results are released by NMS in February, 2009.

Compensation for those applicants accepted into the program is a yearly stipend in the amount of $22,568.00.  Health benefits including dental and vision plans are available. Interns receive ten vacation days, six sick days and holidays.
